Hi folks,
I currently live in a three storey house. On the bottom floor is a telephone socket, which I have my Sky Broadband router and telephone plugged into. On the third floor there is a telephone socket. Is there any way I can use this telephone socket to extend my network? I'm looking to run a cable down (Ethernet) to plug into a few items on the second floor but wasn't sure what would be the best solution.
Thanks in advance,
R

The telephone socket? No.

Since you're talking 'telephone outlet', I'm assuming this is DSL, right?
So you have a ADSL modem. How many ports are on the back? That will tell us whether it is also a router.

If it is a router as well, run an ethernet cable upstairs. If there is only one port on the back, then you'll need a router.

But first let us know what equipment you currently have.

If your other devices are WiFi capable, an access point plugged in to that router might work well (depending on distance, etc)
Otherwise, Cat5e would be the solution.
