Quick question - OCing i7-920 D0 in combination with 7870XT?

Hi there,

I'm running a i7-920 D0 which I'm planning to overclock, on a Asus X58 Sabertooth motherboard with this CPU cooler: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme-1366 Rev.B.
Other components: Club3D HD7870XT6GB OCZ Gold @ 1600Mhz and case = Cooler Master HAF-XB and case fans: Cooler Master Ultra Silent and two BeQuiet! Silent wings.

I'm quiet new to overclocking, will overclocking both my CPU and my GPU be a hard task? Can I first overclock the CPU to a stable overclock, and then overclock the GPU without having to make changes to the CPU overclock? Thanks!

No, is the answer to your first question, it won't be a hard task providing you do your research. Overclocking isn't difficult. Check out some overclocking guides for the components you intend on overclocking, then if you have any specific questions after we can help.

Yes, is the answer to your second question. You can overclock your CPU without affecting your GPU in any way (and vice versa).

Better make sure you have a good PSU;750w ..or more..
