Belkin router has FREAKING ADS on the configuration page. The question is, can I hack it?
Also, does anyone know how to add custom entries to the firewall (might be the solution, no?) and not just what Norton ConnectSafe picks (yuck). I want to block only specific websites including the top 500 ad servers. It worked on my Netgear before it self-bricked during a official update. Hardware Firewall > AdBlockPlus! It required no software on the client side of things. I have recovered the poor Netgear by using the JTAG interface putting DD-WRT on it, but sadly it is not as fast as the new router. I really like the Netgear though, and now im using it as a WIFI to Ethernet convertor. I just hotwire it to the +12 Molex and have a ethernet coming out empty PCI slot and into the Ethernet card. Looks wierd, but having a DD-WRT Linux server within your desktop really comes in handy. I configured it to save downloads to a flash drive over another Eternet port and I basically have a programmable autodownloader and WIFI adaptor in one. I can use its firewall to block for my pc (WAY less lag than ABP) but for nobody else except those that use the mysterious ehternet cords coming out of my desktop LOL. It annoys people (especially my parents who bought the new router for the internet) to find the config page flashing ads for making 160 a moth at home with wierd sites and flash games. GOD I SWEAR THOSE ADS WITH SOUND MAKE ME WANT TO GO INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please help, or I will figure out how to use the firewall on our DSL modem from our ISP. I know it has one, but even to me the settings are so advanced, and messing one thing up usually puts it offline till you reset it. I really dont think it could hadnle the load of the huge 1.2MB virus, ad and inappropriate stuff blocking filter.
