I have an ASUS PC computer that got totally shut down improperly. It was in the middle of re-starting when it got shut down. I turned it on again, and it gave me instructions to change the CSM Parameters. I did that and restarted the computer again. The computer now says, "reboot and select proper boot device. Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". Does this mean I changed the CSM Parameters correctly? What should I do now? I'm not sure what a boot device is. Will it destroy the information on my computer? Please help! I'm using a laptop but I miss my PC!

How will know which one is my hard drive? I did change the CSM Parameters, and got the "reboot and select proper boot device [...] and press a key" upon restarting. Does that mean I changed it to my hard drive correctly and just need my boot device?
I've been told that I just need to insert the CD that came with my computer to install Windows 8 and re-install.

This is happening to me too. Everyone keeps giving the same answer, but not how to do it. I cant get past the screen that says reboot and select proper boot device. It won't let me do anything.

Hi. I have the same issue and followed what was said above. Hit F2 and went to boot. The first boot option was dvd. There were 3 other boot options and none hand HDD on it. I changed it to windows boot manager, saved and went back now the screen in blank and F2 does nothing. Help

Unplug the computer, take battery out. Hold power button for 35 seconds. Then hold f2. This will take u to an utility screen, then go to the right until u see and option for default settings. Then save and restart. Thank me later. Glad I can finally give back to the cyber world where I get so much help from
