So the HDD in my desktop crashed 2 weeks ago, and I got it back this past Sunday.

The drivers all appear operational, and the board recognizes when I plug things in- however, no sound goes through.

And yes I've re-installed the drivers. Many times.

I've tested all my headphones and speakers, all are working fine. The computer can output sound via Livestream, as well.

I have a few theories:

1) I accidentally damaged it when I knocked my motherboard loose earlier- I had been holding on to the area behind the sound ports, to hold the motherboard steady while I plugged things in and I likely wasn't grounded. (I should be glad i didn't fry something more important...)

2)Since I ended up with a 32 bit OS instead of the 64 bit I had before due to my dad not realizing that the copy of windows 7 he used was not the same as the one I used when building the rig. It's possible that the hardware just doesn't like the OS.

make sure in the bios under onboard devices sound chipset is on. reinstall the intel chipset drivers to make sure your not missing any of the mb chipset drivers. look to see if there any yellow !! in device manager if there is make sure you reinstall all of the mb drivers. under windows sound device manager make sure nvidia or amd hdmi sound is not the default audio output device. the realtek speaker should be the default output.

Sound chipset's on already.

There's no yellow exclamation points, but there's two High Definition Audio entries?

I don't even see the HDMI sound as a device in speakers- I'm currently using my Intel 4600 onboard graphics at the moment, since my other video card got RTM'd.
