Hello, I have just finished building my system and when I power it on it is fine and all the fans spin. Problem is nothing appears on the monitor. Now you're probably wondering, at this point, why this is posted in the CPU section. See I bought the AMD A8-6600k from a guy on craigslist because he was selling it unopened cheap. However, he had already sold it but the guy returned it because it didn't work for him. I just assumed his motherboard was incompatible or something. Anyways, it was only 20 bucks so it was hit or miss and wouldn't bring me down that much if it was no good. So the processor had 1 missing pin and a couple bent ones. After spending a lot of time I got them all unbent and was able to put it in the motherboard. Now, I asked a friend if this was Ok and he said find a schematic for the processor and find out what the pin does but I unfortunately couldn't find one. So anyway my question to you is that is this the reason my computer won't show a bios or anything on the screen? Should I just get a new processor?

Thank you

crazy - can you add a video card for testing and see if it outputs anything?

you need every pin on a cpu chip. i use ebay protection and send the chip back as doa. make sure your mb under the cpu qal list has his cpu listed and your mb has the right bios to post the new cpu. if both are fine....dead cpu or you forgot the mb standoffs or the eight pin power plug on the edge of the mb.

Sounds like $20 wasted.

I have tried using the VGA and DVI slot on the video card and still nothing shows up.

Ok, now I am being VERY specific. An APU processor has video on it that is displayed on motherboard headers on the back of the pc. Headers that are part of the motherboard. When you say 'Video Card', that means a separate video card that plugs into the motherboard. Sorry for being so specific, your motherboard can be set to display one or the other
