Weird red line on icons

Do any of you know what the red sign on the bottom left of each icon is, and how to get rid of it?

Ah.

It appears something has replaced the default little curvy arrow denoting a shortcut, for that red circle line thing.

I've not seen this before. More research needed.

its wierd, it was the red line, then it kept scrolling through other icons like a mini picture one, and video one, etc, then back to the regular shortcut arrow. its fine now. thank you! much appreciated
