Im having a issue with which one to get as the desktop one is relatively cheaper then the portable one. My use for the HDD is to save my music and movies and to take it to my friends house and get stuff from them from time to time. So which one should i go for ? I want a minimum of 2tb.

It's best to get a 2.5" external HDD. It is pretty small and draws power directly from the USB port so all you need to carry is the HDD and the USB cable for it. I use one at home that I use to back up data on my laptop.
