Hi, i'm looking at a laptop with great specs the only thing that slows it down is the 5400rpm storage. Is there a way I can put an SSD in there without having to buy another windows 8 disk?

Solution
You have to check that an SSD can fit in your laptop before.
Then, if it does, you can buy one and replace your current HDD, then install windows 8 again on it.

Did you get a Windows 8 installation CD when you purchased your laptop ? (normally you do)
You can use this CD to install Win8 again.

If not, you may have to download the ISO corresponding to the same version of Win8 you are running, then call MS to activate it using your OEM key (sticker at the bottom of your computer).

Regards.

Don't laptops and other desktops come with recovery disks that allow you to install the OS into its original package? I only say that because my friend had a desktop from cyberpower and sure enough the recovery disk installed on his new 3TB drive that he bought replacing a old 1TB drive, though had to partition the drive but with a SSD should be no problem. I'm no expert but im sure if swapping out the drive for a SSD it should be doable considering its the same hardware. I may be wrong, someone else might have a better answer. If not you could clone it but i find cloning pointless and irritating and completely annoying but thats my experience with cloning.
