my laptop used to work extremely well and displayed no problems until about a month ago when my hard drive suddenly died. i had no choice but to buy a new one and do a clean install of windows. after that, the device manager reported that everything has been installed and is working properly, i have all the necessary drivers installed and i sourced them from the lenovo website. but when i played WoT, i could only get 10-20 fps on medium settings, whereas before the re install, i could get 35+ easy on maximum settings. diagnostics show that im only utilizing the integrated graphics card and not the GPU, even when i already forced the programs to use the nvidia card via nvidia control panel

im running windows professional 64bit on an intel core i7 2607QM 2.2ghz, 8gb ram, and Nvidia Geforce GT 555m 2gb GPU.

Ive been searching all over the internet with nothing to show for it. ive also read that other people have been having similar problems with the 5xx series of nvidia cards. please help

yes ive tried that, downloaded the driver. disconnected from the internet.. then uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled,. they system uses the gpu for other tasks such as sidebar and graphics preview on the nvidia control panel.. but for games, it never uses the gpu

Hmm. Okay, well it sounds like you GPU simply isnt being tasked with graphics processing for some reason.

I would suggest contacting your Laptops manufacturer technical support team, and see if they can suggest anything. It sounds like re-installing the OS has changed a setting somewhere, but I do not personally know what that setting may be. Just exaplain the situation to them and ask if there is such a setting.

In the meantime I'll doa little thinking about this, and get back to you if I think of anything. =)

ill keep digging around aswell, if all else fails then maybe i can do another clean install and maybe thatll work.

Ah, I see. Always the way istn it? Lol.

Yeah, maybe another clean install will help. In the meantime, try poking around all the graphics settings you can find and see if anything raltes to GPU tasking. It may just be a simple setting that you overlooked somewhere. =)

ill do that thanks!

When you launch nVidia's control panel there should be a section where you can if a program/game will use the integrated graphics core or the GT 555m.

Additionally, try updating the Intel HD drivers because nVidia's Optimus drivers are supposed to work with the Intel HD drivers so maybe that is what's causing the issue.

in the nvidia control panel ive already set it to the nvidia card, however during gaming, i still get the extremely low framerate, ive tried doing a benchmark test and there is no difference weather the gpu is turned on and off. i also have the latest drivers for both cards.
