I got 500w PSU , i3-4130 , 4gb 1600mhz ram, 1tb HDD and i need a gpu. What would you guys suggest ? I couldn't find any information of gpu that bottleneck exactly i3-4130. There's no money limit on GPU right now for me so i just want to know which GPU i should buy as it should work 80-90% with i3 on some BF4 or GTA V that is going to come out on pc in a few months. I use 1080p monitor and i was thinking maybe something like gtx 760, but i was just thinking lol. What'd ya suggest ?

Solution
Pick one (exact for your CPU):

1. HD 7870
2. R9 270X
3. GTX 660

Pick one (overkill, within reason):
1. HD 7970
2. R9 280X
3. GTX 770/GTX 680

Hi! Welcome to Toms Hardware Forums!

I would suggest, judging by the performance of your CPU, either a 660 or a 660Ti (Obviously the 660Ti is more powerful, but also more expensive). I would not sugegst getting anything more pwoerful than that otherwise your GPU will bottleneck the card. While the i3-4130 is a powerful CPU, it is not powerful enough for the like of the 770 or 780 im afraid.

With a 660/660Ti you can easily run any game on decent settings at a good frame rate, and if you upgrade your CPU in the future you can always buy another 660/660Ti and run them in SLI, and two of these cards in SLI makes for quite a powerful system. =)

Alternativly, if money really is no limit, consider upgrading your CPU as well so you can get a bettetr GPU?

I haven't played a game since july 2013 and i recently bought this new pc so integrated graphics are just enough for me for now. But i still wanna try gta v so i'd need a new gpu later in like more than a half of a year so GPU's prices are going to drop which would make me take gtx 760 (gtx660 ti the same price now) and be happy. Anyways there's HD8000 series comin' out so maybe ill buy something of it, but i just needed to know what is i3-4130 limit which is gtx660/660ti as i see. So finally i'll check for the best performance/price choise since i know i should watch for gtx 660 ti power and plus i'll probably buy a used one with much of warranty left and a lot cheaper since the time is not important to me, i mean it is more than 6 months.

Well, you need to remember that there is no guarantee that GTA V is actually coming out on PC at all. (Although recent sources indicate that it may be coming in Q1 2014.) Plus the facat if they do as bad a job as they did with GTA IV it wont matter how good a gpu you get. I say this because the GTA IV port was TERRIBLE! I barely average 50FPS on my 2 670's, and thats on dramatically reduced settings. Lol.

The reason I advise agains getting a GPU that is more powerful than your CPU can handle is that it may actaully decrease performance. A GPU that is at 100% will offer more performance than a GPU that can only utilise 50% of its power.

A 760 would probably be fine on your system, I was just being a little conservative. =) If you want to wait for the ATI 8000 series however, go ahead. You never know, they might come out with something that knocks Nvidia off thier throne. Ha ha!
