I am trying to canvass for a video card to buy that is accepted to my current system, this is my current system via cpu-z:

CPU : intel core i3 3220
MAINBOARD : ECS H61H2-M12
RAM : DDR3 4GB 665.2 MHz
current Graphic card : NVIDIA GeForve GT620

so i wanted to upgrade my gt620, and as i tried to look for something that will fit my budget and available to the shop I'm going to buy it from, I've downlisted it to these choices:

1) INNO3D GT630 1GB DDR5
2) INNO3D GTX550 Ti 1GB DDR5
3) INNO3D GTS450 1GB DDR5

I am mostly using my PC for gaming, and I really cant decide between this 3, I'm also planning to upgrade my monitor (is it true that to fully maximize the video card you have to get a good monitor?) anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

You're going to need to tell us what PSU you have and what your budget is because quite frankly, by limiting yourself to nVidia, you're costing yourself a pantload of performance. You could get an XFX Radeon HD 7790 for $110 that would absolutely destroy all three of those cards. The best part is that it has a $20 mail-in-rebate so you'd end up spending only $90. Remember, just because some fanboy tells you that nVidia is better, it doesn't mean that it is.

Hi! Welcome to Toms Hardware Forums!

Going by those specs, I would advise you to get the 550TI. I can personally vouch for this card as I have previously owned one myself, and it is an excellent little card for the money. The GTS450 is less powerful than the 550Ti, as well as a little dated, and the GT630 will offer next to no perofmance increase as it is only a step up from your current GT620.

If you go with the 550Ti you wont be dissapointed. =)

Hi! thanks for the welcome, so judging from your answer 550ti is better than my current 620? I'll try to research for an ideal display monitor for 550ti (any recommendations?)

thanks for the quick reply!

hmm, ill find a way to look for my psu, however, if buying a new psu to support my new video card would only cost me around $20 then i think it won't be a problem. My budget (if i convert our currency to USD) would be around $110, the list i have is the items available to the shop near our house. Its all inno3d because I guess i kinda trust it since im using one right now... however if I add the other vid cards that is available and near my budget the list would include:

-ASUS GT630 2GB DDR3 128BIT
-MSI N630GT 4GB DDR3 128BIT

I didn't find the XFX Radeon HD 7790, however there is this brand POWERCOLOR HD7770 1GB DDR5 brand, it is more expensive (about 20$ more) than what my budget is and i haven't tried it yet, I'll try to look for the radeon that you mentioned and see the price, maybe ask some technician here for anything that i need to support the graphic card (new psu maybe?). I might have to wait for another 1 or so months to buy additional parts.

thanks for the reply!
