1st, create a set of backup DVD's of the HP recovery partition.

Now look for section on replacing hdd, very easy.
Swap them over, boot of your recovery DVD's to put back the normal HP OS.
Any standard laptop ssd will fit, 1.8inch or 2.5inch, HP sometimes have a little edge connector on their drives that you need to put on the ssd from the hdd.
The new Toshiba Q series drives are good and at a reasonable price, 128GB @ £64.98
