AsRock Z77 Pro 3
One Western Digital 500 GB HDD Sata III

The only GX 550 watt that I got a look at internally was made by Seventeam in 2010. It was complete trash.

Enhance Electronics made the newer ones, however, I do not know when they started making them. And they no longer list the GX 550 on their web site.

I would not take any chances, keep what you have for video now and save up to purchase a better power supply, the R9 280X is not going away any time soon. Corsair and Seasonic, along with a couple others listed above are good often...
The GX 550 will likely be enough PSU as long as you don't have to large of an OC on the 3570K cpu. The OC'ed versions of the R9 280x are pulling down some really high numbers from FurMark like in the 465-470 watt range for total power consumption. If you have any reliability issues with crashes etc then I would upgrade the PSU as well.

I can't upgrade my PSU but I didn't hear that much complaints about the GX Series.I heard that all other CM PSU's were bad but the GX was an OK series. So it should run it right?

The GX series is better than the eXtreme power plus series, but much worse than the various Silent Pro's.

Here's what HardOCP had to say about the GX 650W, which is related to the 550W:

The Bottom Line

The Cooler Master GX 650W is a mediocre power supply for couple of years ago, and an outright failure today. The Build Quality of the unit is nothing to write home about (unless it is a warning), the topology is old and outdated, and the exterior is flash over substance. Coupled with this we have mediocre voltage, poor by today's standards efficiency, and out of specification DC Output Quality. One upping this poor showing is that fact that the unit was completely unable to complete our load tests at 100v AC input. That makes the GX 650W not just a failure by our standards, but rather a double failure and an ugly one at that. Making matters worse is the fact that this unit is priced at up to $100 in retail and $70 online. (Users can pick up the much better Seasonic M12II-620Bronze from Amazon with Free Prime Shipping for $98.29). As it stands, there really is not anyone that this unit would be a good fit for that we can think of, and certainly not for its intended crowd of "gamers." Cooler Master should be ashamed and owes all gamers and hardware enthusiasts an apology.

Always check out a power supply before purchasing.

A good place to start is:

One great review site is www.jonnyguru.com though there are others. He does a very good job of testing [including tearing down and inspecting] and reviewing he pulls no punches, he tells it like it is.

There are other review sites as well.

Update:

Here is a link to pictures I found http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6424

If you have had this power supply for a few or several years, it is time to upgrade.

The GX 550W I have is a RS-550-ACAA-D3.It was made by Enhance Electronics.I am satisfied with this PSU,I have been running to for almost a year.I don't have the choice of upgrading my PSU either and I have a hurry regarding buying my new GPU(Some big games are coming out so I have to upgrade before their release)
SO if it is that much risky to run a R9 280X with this,I'll go for a 760.Thanks for the help guys.
