Product activation after installing new hard drive

Hi when we buy hard drive from western digital they offer WD Acronis TrueImage, available as a free download on the WD Support site, enables you to copy all your data to a new drive so you don't have to reinstall your operating system . I do not have Installation cd or key for my windows 8 OS. Is it possible to install the OS from the old hard drive to the new one without product activation key?

If it clones the drive I would expect the activation key to already be installed. if it does ask for activation, simply call microsoft for support.

If you clone the data from one drive to another, your previous activation will still be in place. So, you will not need a new product activation key.
