So I was thinking about upgrading my video card to get better performance. I currently have an AMD Radeon 6870. Is it smarter for me to crossfire that card with the same, or upgrade the card to a whole new one that's $200 or less. If I should just buy a different card, what card would you guys recommend?

My specs:
CPU - i5 3570k
Motherboard - ASRock Extreme3 Z77
Ram -8GB 1600 G.Skill
Case - CM Storm Scout
Graphics Card -AMD Radeon 6870
2 x 500gb 7200RPM HDD
Rosewill 630W PSU
Kingston 120GB SSD

Thanks in advance for helping

Thing is the existing card has only 1Gb of memory and if you're playing on a 1080 monitor that lack of VRAM is choking the card-it's just not enough at that res unless you turn the settings down quite a bit and, frankly, that rig deserves far better. As do you.
there's nothing between the 7950 and R9 270X in performance, although the new card is fractionally less expensive and offers a few more up-to-date features. The old timer strikes back with a (possibly for you) inviting game bundle and a larger 3Gb of memory.
Personally, I don't think you'll miss out on much with either...If you already have the freebies or don't want hem, get the "R" card, if you want the games, get a 7950, either way your eyes are in for a nice treat and your games will run so much better.

That makes sense. So, which is better? The 10$ extra doesn't really make a difference to me. Which is the better card to buy? I understand the new r9 series is fresh off the market, but newer isn't always better. I'm thinking the 7950 is better, but not too sure.
