Hello, Im having problems with texture flickering when in games. Not just the occasional stutter i mean BAD texture flickering. Weapon models flicker, cars flicker, mountains disapear and apear. This has become progressively worse the last few months. I want to say its the graphics card (gtx 580) but i cant say for sure. Now i have about $400 to play with right now and im sort of stuck. Im leaning toward a new gpu and maybe a mobo. But then again maybe its the cpu or the psu not pumping enough power? As far as upgrading i was thinking of a gtx 670 but would my i5 2500k bottleneck the card? Or should i go for like an i7 3770k and run sli 570s? Please help me out guys any advice is appreciated. Also i dont have any other parts to swap out or test exactly what is wrong.

Specs
MSI Twin Frozr GTX 580
i5 2500k no overclock
8 GB RAM
1TB hdd
200 gb ssd
corsair 600W psu

Solution
i might be time to replace that card with something along the lines of a gtx770. i'm not so sure about the problem with your gpu (might be going bad or maybe its vram is being choked with the high textures) but it is a safe bet to just buy a fresh new card. it has served you well and its high time for it to be retired with its dignity in tact.

Thanks for the responce. Yes thats pretty much what i was thinking. If i went out and bought a 770 or 670 would my cpu create a bottleneck? Also is my 600w psu enough to power my system?

your psu is enough even for a gtx780. as for bottlenecks, i wouldn't worry about it much as that cpu of yours will perform with your chosen card quite admirably. heck, you can overclock it if you wish to do so. bottlenecks will only rear its ugly face once you run 2 or more high end gpus. otherwise in single gpu scenario the penalty is negligible at best.
