So my friend and I are building another gaming PC (high end). I have never tried to SLI anything in my life. How do I go about SLI -ing 2 GTX 780s? I don't know what do to. It might be easy, it might not be; I have no idea. Please help.

Solution

It's quite simple, make sure you have a motherboard that supports SLI, and make sure you have an adequate power supply for the cards you intend on using. Also, if you plan on overclocking, which I would expect you would, you'll want some headroom for that, so take that into account when purchasing the power supply as well. Basically you just plug the cards in and connect them with an SLI bridge and they should be good to go. The bridge should come with the GPUs. Also, I believe you can boot/post...

you plug in two video cards and then connect them with the SLI bridge (typically this comes with your motherboard) thats it. then get drivers

make sure your mobo has 8x/8x sli/crossfire setup. If it's really high end, it will have 16x/16x.
for dual 780s, you'd see a difference here... so definitely get a mobo that can do 16x/16x PCI-express

also make sure your PSU can handle both (and has connectors for both)... but typically if you're buying a PSU that can handle these cards, it will have the connectors needed

Also, I believe you can boot/post the system with both cards and then go ahead and install the newest Nvidia drivers, but I've always waited until I have the drivers installed and I've gotten the system up and running before adding a second card.
