My build so far is a gtx 780 and a z87 deluxe motherboard. My question is will an AMD processor be a good or even better substitute for the i5 4670k? i live in the U.S. P.S: i am going to use this for gaming on ultra settings on all games. Thanks in advance.

If you already have that motherboard, then AMD is not an option unless you get a different one.

Well, not really.
If you want to save some money, you could get a FX 8320.

But AMD CPU's tend to underperform in old games and games that run on one main thread.
If you want everything to run great, go for the i5.
If you want to save some money, while sacrificing performance in some games, go with the AMD.

Any one in general. Just something that would outmatch or have the same power the 4670k can do.
Edit: I will be streaming

So the clear answer would then need to be the 4670k?

Since you already have the board, 4670k or 4770k are your best options.

AMD makes great parts don't get me wrong. However, you are still better off with an Intel CPU, especially the i5 4670k. Per core, the Intel CPUs are almost always stronger. Go to CPUboss and you can do some research there too.
