I all memory is single channel correct?

It seems that there is a misconception that a duel channel kit is how you get duel channel. If I buy two single sticks of ram (identical) and place them in the paired DIMMS, it will run in duel channel correct?
I am pretty sure "duel channel kit" and "triple channel kit", etc just means it comes with two or three of the same exact sticks of RAM. It's no different than buying two of the same stick though, or am I completely wrong?

You're right. The "kits" sold together supposedly have been tested and verified that they work together in dual or triple channel. Sometimes if you buy single chips, they can have issues, but they should(and almost always) work.

Yes you are right. As long as all the hardware specifications are the same they will work together in a duel channel. The duel channel kits are simply for convenience.

Thanks. I was just asking about getting a single stick of 4gb to start and adding the other stick a little later. I got some replies just get a 2x2 (which costs more too) which would take up 2 of my slots. The "kits" seem to be a little more expensive than just buying a single stick(s).
