i have 2*512mb of ram on my really old pc and i want to upgrade them.if i i will upgrade to 2*1gb
i need to remove my old memory ?the old rams run on dual channel and the rams i am thinking to buy they will run dual channel too(i have 4 slots).so i will remove the old ones and i will have 2gb or i can keep the olds and have 3gb of ram?

okay, I like to run ram in matched pairs. running 2 1gig sticks and your 2 512 might cause problems in stability. so my suggestion is to run the 2 1gig sticks and see how it goes. later you can try running the other ram with it. you should know in short order if there are going to be problems and whether or not to remove the 2 512's.

the pc is already 7 years old and all parts are really old so i dont care if i get 4gb ram for 30 euros and i think that all rams have large life.http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-4GB-2x-2GB-PC2-5300-DDR2-667-DDR2-667MHZ-Desktop-Memory-RAM-LOW-DENSITY-RAM-/221261554132?pt=AU_Components&hash=item33843761d4
