My computer used to work great, but now has low fps?

Hello, this is my first time on this forums so I don't know what all I need to provide. Basically I have a very strong gaming computer that can run basically every game on max settings with extremely high FPS and no lag. The game I am hooked on right now is League of Legends (Not a very demanding game) When I would play League I would get 200+ FPS. I was on a different computer for only five days, then I was able to hook this one up again. Now whenever I get in game I only get 40FPS. I don't know what happened and I have no idea how to fix it. I have already checked to make sure my video card drivers are up to date, and all the windows updates are done..

what gpu do you have and hard drive for os what kind and how full is it

I was playing games on it and they were working as good as they always did then I shut it down like normal, and everything was fine. I had to box it back up and store it in my room for five days. I was able to hook it back up this afternoon, I had to update league of legends, and I went into a game and saw the FPS was low. I then checked and updated my video drivers, and windows. Also I want to clarify it isn't just league of legends that I am experiencing low FPS in. I tested it on several other games that normally run at 100+fps every time.

could have caught a static discharge while you were boxing it...????

try a cmos reset.

I dont think that would have happened because I am extremely careful when boxing it back up, but I tried a reset anyway, and it's still at only ~40 FPS when I normally get over 200.

So if I change all the setting to ''very low'' I can get 100fps. But 5 days ago I was playing with all the settings on''very high'' and getting 200+Fps..

Check your CPU temps. I wouldn't be surprised if your CPU HSF broke loose and is overheating, causing it to throttle.
