I decided to upgrade my existing ram from 8GB (2gb x 4) to 10GB (2gb x 5), but when I inserted the RAM in slot 5 it did not show up on windows 7 or the BIOS (I was able to see it with CPU-Z). I then decided to try sot 6 and the 10GB showed up.
I also did a bios update with no change

This is the RAM I bought, it has the same specs as the other RAM already installed.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?

Thanks

houldn't be no, not sure if your mobo supports flex, if it does then you'll have 6GB in tri channel and 4 in single - else all are running in single channel mode - take a look in CPU-Z in the memory tab, it should show in the upper right if in single or tri

Thanks so much for your help, so when I had 2GB x 4 i was running in single channel the whole time? Is triple much better?

In CPU-Z , under channel # it says triple, I don't see anything for the individual slots
