Should I watercool this PC?

So i didnt build my PC yet but it will be

CPU: i5 4670k
GPU: Sapphire toxic R9 280x
MOBO: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer LGA 1150 Intel
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133
PSU: CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W
HDD: Seagate barrcuda 1TB..

Thats all that really matters to you, So i am not going to OC right away. But when i do should i get a zalman CPU cooler/ a good AIR cooler or a crosair H60 watercooler? Is it risky? Will it break at one point? Have you had problems with it?

Thanks

Solution
Looking at your build and considering price/performance as well as what is necessary vs things you don't really need, I came up with this. It's just my idea of what you're looking for and will probably save you a bit of money while performing the same.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($227.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H90 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($84.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer LGA 1150 ($129.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($74.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($74.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card:...
If you plan to do heavy CPU overclocking watercooling is a great choice, but if you aren't up for watercooling there are many great air coolers available. And everything is liable to break at some point. Good luck sir, and come on back now if you have any further questions.

Oh God -_- Why patrick WHY? XD

My H60 works great. The benefit from using a closed loop is saving room over the CPU area or allowing more ventilation. Another benefit is not having a large and heavy heatsink attached to the motherboard (which can break it if moved without care). If you don't need either of those things, then you can just get the D-14 or the 212 Evo as they are cheaper.

dont worry about the price. Have you ever watercooler and ran into a problem?

- Do you have any experience with watercooling before?
- How far do you want to push the CPU to?
- How much are you willing to pay for the cooling(max budget)?
- If you want good water cooling i'd say look at these: Swiftech H220, Corsair H100i and Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme. There all just as good except the H220 which is the best one. If anything i'd say go with custom water cooling, it's way better than closed loop however since you're probably not experienced with it, just to be safe you will be better of with one of these instead.

Yeah i have no experience. A custom one will be risky so my budget,,,i dont know how much ill have. I would push the CPU to about 75%...so will the h60 do the job?

maybe even the H100i if i get 100$

I have an H60 (entry level closed loop) on my 4.3Ghz 3570k. Current idle temps: ~30c at 800 fan rpm I've seen it up to 60c while gaming with other stuff running... mind you this is the entry level AND my fan is a cheap LED 1000 rpm fan.

Maybe i can get the H100i. Are you ever worried if it will break and if it does will it Kill your parts?

If you want a minor overclock to about 4.0ghz since hasfail overheats easily then hyper evo 212 is perfect for you, it's super cheap and can easily handle 4.0ghz without having to push the fans to max.

If you want to hit around 4,6 ghz then a closed loop is definitely what you want.

so 4.5+ needs watercooling, But Lower can use zalman CPU cooler?

And dont say hasfail....whats better? Sandy Bridge?

You would have to worry about compatibility if you are going for a closed loop with a gigantic radiator. I would just get the H90 if you really wanted a high performance one without a dual radiator. It's also mentioned in the article pat linked as a sound choice for the $$. And if it breaks? Like any PC part, there is a chance it will fail. Luckily since you have an intel CPU they won't catch fire instantly if your cooling solution fails as long as you turn it off. I use a temp monitoring program that came with my asus board. It will alert me if the temp ever goes past 80c. Your CPU can probably get up to 90-100c without permanent damage as long as it doesn't sit at that temp for a long time.

The real benefit from air coolers is that if the fan dies, you just replace the fan. However Corsair does have a decent warranty if it does ever fail.

That's not going to help him decide whether to go for a closed loop or a air cooler..
Most of those are new closed loops and some of them are not even out yet on pcpartpicker. None of those new watercoolers aren't even good p/p.

Also your overclock is dependent on the actual CPU, not really the cooling solution. I've already heard from the forum about how people replaced their sandy bridge for a new haswell only to find it didn't overclock as far and actually lost performance.

The risk you take while overclocking. Maybe you should test it out before you decide what solution to use.

- Sandy Bridge is an older generation so stick to hasfail because there newer and better p/p(only con being they do run a bit hotter when OCing).

- What kind of case do you have? I have to know if it'll fit in your case to even begin with deciding for what cooling solution will fit you.

- If you don't want to go over 4,2ghz(max) with air cooling then don't choose a closed loop.

Ok. Thanks. Ill think about it

So what would you recommend if i wanna OC to 4.5 ? Water or Air? Plus, any COOL looking RED Led Air coolers?

If you are dead set on a heavy overclock, then yes, I recommend the H90 with a push/pull configuration.

As for coloring, you can buy fans with red LEDs in them to make a radiator or a fin block glow red. Just make sure you don't cheap out on the fans when getting LED fans. Some are cool looking but really crappy. Look at their reviews, CFM, longevity, and make sure they are the right size for the radiator.

Here is what LED fans look like on a radiator... its the black thing in between the two at the top.

Thanks. Once i need to OC ill see what to do, If you dont mind, do you know a full tower case, Big window, Cool looking with RED LED fans? FOR 159$ max? Cause now im looking at the throne W black but just checking if there is better. Thanks

I've never tested it but I believe a NZXT Kraken x40 can pull of a 4,5ghz overclock.
