PS3 major HDMI handshake issue

It all started when I moved my PS3 and connected it to my 50 inch panasonic viera TV,
It was previously connected to my Dell e207wfp via a HDMI - DVI cable. The ps3 was connected to my dell monitor for a quite a long time, I would say two months. My ps3 worked fine with my panasonic TV prior to this, then one day i decided to move my ps3 back to my panasonic tv and all that displayed was a black screen, nothing at all. Then i moved it back to my monitor, and it had a black screen too.

I tried a LOT of things, changing cables, switching TV'S, restoring default settings, power cycle...
i did the 5 second power button reset about god knows how many times.
none of them worked, and after almost two months here I am posting here for help.
Is it possible that somehow my old monitor/dvi - hdmi cable caused this ?
My ps3 says it can detect the hdmi device, but for some reason it just can't handshake with anything anymore via a HDMI signal, ever since i moved my ps3 to my panasonic tv 2 months after being connected to my dell monitor. The last solution I know is to buy a HDMI switch, and here i am searching for another one with the help of this forum

Have you tried using a different HDMI cable or using Component or Composite video?

Well through the many handshake threads i've been through, people say that sony is of no help so i didn't bother. I also can't open up my PS3 or it will void the warranty i think

You don't need to open it up to clean the port, just clean the part the HDMI cable plugs into.

Sorry I don't know any other fixes, I would suggest contacting Sony especially if its still under warranty. Either that or stick with component.

If you plugged the HDMI cable in while either the ps3 or tv was turned on, you may have blown the HDMI port. Static electricity can also sometimes blow a port. If you tried different cables and on different devices (TV's, monitor's,...) and a video rest on the ps3 hasn't helped, then I'd say the port is blown.

I've seen this happen to tivo's and some other DVR's also.
