I tried to crossfire before, but apparently I had a bottleneck that being my CPU wasn't powerful enough.

Now I'm back sporting

Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 LE

CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 Processor

and 16 gigs of Sniper RAM

2 questions really, is this CPU powerful enough to get the best performance out of 2 HD 7850 4 gbs in X-fire.

and should I X-fire my HD 7850 4gb with a 7850 2gb?

There's a sticky from a while ago that would help http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/245454-33-crossfire... I also have heard of people getting 0 befitting when they crossfired 2 7850's together. My friend did the same and they plays games like bf3 and they only got a 15-20 fps increase. I would just consider buying a 7970 and selling the 7850 on ebay.

I could return my HIS 7850 iPower IceQ Turbo 4GB and get a refund. if I did that, would it really be best to get a 7970 3gb? is that the best on the market? and if so, is my CPU powerful enough to not bottleneck?

lets say the price limit for a GPU would be 350$ and it needs to be an AMD card, what is it guys?

your processor wouldn't bottleneck even a titan, Just go for the 7970 from asus or xfx has a shorter pcb version of the card. That would be the best for that price range. if you look at the home page it says the new series of radeon cards aren't all that great

I wouldn't do it because it would make both cards run at 2GB. Now having said that, 4GB is kinda overkill for the HD 7950 so if I were you, I'd get something with 3GB instead. Something like the XFX Core Edition HD 7950 3GB for $220 (-$30 mail in rebate):
