hi i recently re applied the thermal paste to my i7 950 chip as temps were getting hot and i read that this is the right thing to do, however after i did this and turned on the cpu it said a new chip had been installed bla bla i selected the load defaults option as i havent a clue about these things lol, anyways it booted up fine but then i noticed that every time i restart the computer it will power up, lights on and fans spin, for a couple of seconds then it will cut off, it does this for three times then it boots up as normal, so i tried unplugging ram sticks and it boots fine with a 2gb stick in and it also boots fine with the 2nd 2gb stick in, its when i install my third stick i get the problem, it was fine before applying the paste (a small bit in the centre of chip),oh im sorry my motherboard is an asus rampage 3 gene, it has 3 red ram slots and 3 black ones the ram was installed in the 3 red slots, i cant now have my 6gb ram only 4 :( , does anybody know a fix for this maybe a setting has changed or something, i have swapped all the sticks around its definately not a bad stick its definately something to do with having all 3 installed.

thank you in advance for any replies :)

p.s sorry about the bad grammar lol

thanks for your speedy reply but i cant find any setting for tripple channel, so i tried resetting the cmos and this had made no difference even when the computer finally does boot up after the multiple cut outs (when 3rd stick is installed) windows and the bios is only detecting 4gb
