I have about $250-300 to spend and I was looking to upgrade my computer. It was built last year by my friend, he did everything and he picked out parts. I found out that my cpu wasn't that good for gaming so I was wondering what I should get.
These are my current specs:
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60GHz
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Graphics card: XFX HD-687A-ZHFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Power Supply: RAIDMAX Blackstone series RX-700AC 700W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
Harddrive: HGST Deskstar 7K1000.C 0F10383 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
I'm running 1440x900 resolution
Should I get a i5 or another amd cpu
If i get a i5 I'll have to buy a new motherboard since my current one is not compatible with intel
And of course I would like to use as little money as possible
