I'm not very tech savy so I bought a computer off ibuypower.. After just over a year of use I'm getting a hard disk c failure popup now. So I've been reading and believe I need a new hard drive. The computer came installed with windows 8 and I didn't receive a DVD of the software. I'm here to ask for any help in figuring out what to do with this entire situation. Any help would be appreciated. (I ran a chk dsk last week which took an entire night, it seemed to fix the problem and then all of a sudden the failure notification started coming back again. I only use this computer for gaming and moderate internet use)

First thing to do: backup your personal files to a stick or external disk. Don't forget the bookmarks in your browser. :)
After the backup you can run a checkdisk. Right click on the c drive in explorer, goto properties, tools and start the error checking. That needs a restart on the c drive.

Any recommendations on a good software to use, is there anything else to it?
