SATA III HDD in a SATA II Port

I am building a new PC, but I have a few questions about storage.

My motherboard is an MSI H61M-P31 (G3), and the SATA ports on it are SATA II. My HDD is a Seagate ST500DM002, and I am not sure what SATA it is. Would I be able to connect a SATA III drive to a SATA II port, or would I have to mess about with extra stuff?

Please help me!

  1. Yes it is fine! The Sata is the storage interface and is fully backwards compatible, no mechanical drive can max the transfer rate of Sata II.
