Hi, my friend approached me asking if i could fix a problem with him booting his OS. Assuming that it would just be a simple repair Windows 7 task, i agreed. However, after experimenting, his hard disk, when placed in my machine would boot his OS correctly.
The machine is an Acer Aspire 5733z.
I have tried booting Ubuntu, Mint, Windows Recovery and my own OS on his machine and nothing appears.
I have changed the BIOS boot devices for each attempt and have bootable devices which work on my own machine.
When i earlier attempted to update the bios the machine using the .FD file and turning the machine on with fn and esc held, the disk would spin for a moment and would not do anything for an hour.
I hope you can find a resolution into being able to beet any system on the laptop.

a few question....if you use a hirem boot cd or usb tool and have his hard drive pulled from the laptop do the laptop boot with video from another boot device.???
if there a video chip or lcd issue can you use the ext monitor port and get video??
right now it could be the hard drive or a bad system board.
