20% gpu usage

hi, since 2 days my gpu usage wont go above 20%, it was fine before. it even scales between 300 and 1000 mhz just to get exactly 20% usage. its no bottleneck since it was fine 3 days ago.

fx6300 with a hd7870

You have it in a X16 slot? Not X16 running at X4 speed!

yes, its in the x16 slot and running at x16 @ pcie 2.0

Something odd is going on and no mistake.
Open Task Manager and see if something is using a lot of CPU time, the system may have picked up a nasty infection-either viral or malware.

cpu isnt used, during gaming its around 15-25% loaded (only one core since the game isnt multithreaded, but also in multthreaded games there isnt much cpu load). there shouldnt be a infection too, since the pc is basicly 1 week old. i have the feeling that the problem appeared after a standard win8 update.

There is always a change that win 8 messed up the drivers, things like safe boot on will stop beta drivers to load since it calls for signed everything.
