my inspiron 2205 doesn't recognize the cd/dvd drive

I have an Dell Inpiron 2205 one-touch computer, it will not recognize the cd/dvd drive. I thought it needed a new one, so I got it & it still won't. I was told it needed some kind of software, any idea what I can do to fix this?

You can try Dell's website for software/firmware. If anything available you can download that and install that to do recognize your cd/dvd drive. Or make sure you have plugged correct wires to correct ports, or the wires are not damaged. And you can check the BIOS for cd/dvd drive being the first bootable device in the list of boot option/priority.
