Hi guys I live in the UK but want to buy a Radeon 7950 from Newegg when my dad next goes to the states but I wondered what are the chances of it being DOA? I already bought the CPU from there and I of course have not tested it yet. It will be brought back on hand luggage.

Straight forward answer please no customs crap :)

As with any piece of electronics, there is a chance of DOA. I have built 4 complete PC's from parts from newegg over the past 6 years and never had a DOA piece of equipment. If you look at reviews, you will see a certain percentage of items show doa. its a roll of the dice but your chances of getting a DOA are low.

DOA items are more rare than you think. the reason there are so many in newegg reviews is because idiots whose parts arrived DOA go review the product for 1 egg out of anger.

It can happen, and if it does, PLEASE don't post a review...

The reviews aren't necessarily a good way to see the chances, as the people who get a DOA are much more likely to post a review since they're stuck waiting. The people who get good ones are too busy having fun with their machines to think about reviews. But i as well, in 6 or 7 years and 4ish builds have never gotten a bad component from Newegg, just get a decent brand of GPU...anything besides stuff like Diamond, Powercolor, Visiontek, or single fan configurations (for axial setups).
