Frequent screen flickering on a new PC

Hi all,

I just bought a new pc a week ago and already have some problems.
It first started a few days ago. Every 10 minutes or less I get lines on my screen and there appears to be a quet high pitched sound coming from the pc case. Maybe its the graphics card or motherboard, I dont know. It lasts for a few seconds and goes back to normal. I notice it the most when I'm on the web, so it could be connected to internet traffic?

I have the Sapphire 7970 vapor-x and the Asrock z77 extreme4

Hello, I had these same problems after installing my graphics card too. Make sure your VGA/HDMI is connected properly and that the drivers are up to date. Mine also makes the high pitch noise but I only get it when I am playing a game. The noise occurs when your card is under heavy usage. I put Vsync on in the video settings and that stopped it.

I reinstalled the latest video drivers and it still didn't help. It doesn't happen just when I'm gaming, the screen flickers periodically regardless if I'm in a game or just on the web.
