Hello all,

I'm new to the world of Linux but so far I love it.

Anyways I got everything working except my Graphic Card. I have a custom built laptop with i5 and nVidia 660M optimus with intel integrated chip.
I Installed bumblebee sucessfully and when trying "glxgears" in terminal I have around 180 FPS and with "optirun glxgears" I see the light indicator for the nvidia card is turned on and the FPS boosts up to 1000+
BUT the problem is that it wont work when playing.

Example: If I start World Of Warcraft via Wine via Terminal by command "optirun bash" and then "wine wow.exe" the light indicator turns on and all just like with glxgears but the game is still running on the intel chipset :(
The same thing happens if I use optirun in the properties -> Command on the link on the desktop.

EDIT: Looks like I got it some what working, When running wow.exe with optirun the light indicator turns on, the game loads, but the horror when the game opens, around 5fps, when turning the camera around the screen goes black until I stop moving the camera, models are loosing textures (turning green) and overall just garbage. It actually runs better on the integrated intel chipset (still poor on with the intel).

I've searched google and tried different solutions without any results.

So now after tried and failed my self I turn to the knowledge of the community. Any help are most welcome.

p.s tried the official linux mint forum but got no reply :/

Thanks
Eric

First of all , I dunno why you would even run Linux for gaming, most games aren't even compatible to begin with, all you need is a Windows 7 x64 OS and you're set. And secondly, World of Warcraft doesn't run on Linux, that's why! Good luck!

Thats wrong. With Wine or PlayOnLinux (POL) many games run fine on linux.

I got World Of Warcraft running just fine with 30FPS in OpenGL mode. But Its still running on the intel chip and not my nvidia.

WOW apparently does run on Linux, using WINE.

Evidently, you need Patch 5.4.0.

Not sure about with Linux Mint, though.

Works fine in Linux Mint with wine. Got it working with OpenGL and it runs smooth, only problem is that it is still running on the intel chipset and not my nvidia card.

Many other games also work in linux. Like HL2, CS, CSS, Skyrim and so on.

Quite possible. From my experience, nvidia sucks. It's aimed at getting high scores in test, not at real-life performance, e.g. AMD card in friend's laptop with 1200 3Dmark11 points @ 1080p performs same as my nvidia 640m with 1800 point @ 720p in DotA2. Also, when I first installed Ubuntu in my computer, like 8 years ago, I was surprised that Windows' games ran better on Ubuntu than natively. Still, that was with ATI card. Can't say that now, since then Nvidia card..
