Hi guys, I have been a long time pc enthusiast and pc gamer but have usually had my friend who is more hardware knowledgeable help me pick my parts. This is what I was able to come up with
CPU AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core $153.61
Motherboard Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS Micro ATX AM3+ $44.99
Memory Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $71.99

Thats my list total comes to 665.67 including the couple rebates thrown in there. I suggest you bump up your budget. If you can of course. Upgrade the Graphics card to a 7970

If you want you can cut some cost by picking a different case I just love Corsair's cable management. If you are going to tweak the list. Try to keep a mobo in that ball park. If you plan on crossfiring look for x16, x8 minimum anything less than that is pointless.

Also get a board similar to the one listed I am not an MSI fan but I just whipped this list together. You do not need 600w unless you are going to crossfire. Then you will need a crossfire mobo. Otherwise 500w is fine 430w would probably suffice. Those PSU calculators are full of hot air.

Stick with PSU brands like Corsair, Antec, well those are the only 2 I buy but I think they suggest like 2 others. 80+ bronze certified and you should be good to go.

I added the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Evo, there is a cheaper one of $5 212+, there is also a TX3, the TX3 is the easiest to install (they are all pretty straightforward). But the TX3 mounts to your existing clip on the mobo. The other 2 you have to install a backplate on your mobo. (still easy).

Hope this helps. Remember to no longer recieve an advice pick a solution and then a moderator will close it out.

I definitely would not get a phenom 2 x4 965be. It is 5 years old and will bottleneck the 7950 is many games.

I won't be doing any overclocking I'm curious about an easy to install heatsink not for the sake of overheating but making sure it will be easy :)

I used an AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE (overclocked @4.2 1 core unlocked) and its running a 7970 fine. Bottleneck has so far only been noticeable in Crysis, and BF3 (ultra turned it down to High/Ultra settings and it ran cruise control) and SWTOR but that game has optimization issues. Other than that it tested fine. I posted that one to get him better components but so that he could purchase a better CPU later on.
