Doing an upgrade on Win 8 Lenovo Ideapad. Stuck on "please wait" during boot. Did f8 to get into boot options. Chose Safe mode. Now when starting up, the Lenovo splash does not have F2 option and F8 does not work. Goes straight to "please wait".

Any ideas?

do you have a different hard drive with an OS on it, say from a different laptop, that you could put into the lenovo? this would tell you wether its an issue with your mobo or wether or not its the hard drive/os. although its likely its the OS, seeing as you were doing an update. did you turn your laptop off during the update? sometimes after an update the first reboot may take a long time. but repeatedly "hard resetting" your PC with the power button to get it to turn off can corrupt data.

No other hard drive. It's SSD. The laptop restarted on it's own during the update and was stuck on "please wait" for hours. I've no idea how to fix this without any way to do f2 or f8
