Hey everyone,
I am looking to build a desktop PC from scratch and wanted to know what the best configuration would be for a storage solution; as of now i am considering buying 1 Samsung EVO 120Gb SSD and 1 WD 1TB Black Hard drive, however
i'm wondering how i should configure the two drives to get maximum performance. For example: i will definitely be installing my OS and most used applications on the EVO and everything else on the WD hd but should i also consider getting a SanDisk 32gb caching ssd for the hard drive? Or would it be possible to partition a caching/catalog on my SSD and designate it for maximizing the performance of the hd? I don't know! if you have any suggestions as a possible setup solution i would LOVE to know! Thanks!

The idea is new to me, having a HDD+SSD+SSD(cache). I don't see why this couldn't be done, of course looking at HDD+SSD(cache) it isn't nearly the performance of just all SSD, have you considered a 500GB SSD for all your programs and OS and a 1TB HDD for storage of videos, pictures, etc?

SSD cache drive? Pointless. If you have Windows on a SSD already you will already be accessing all data equivalently across the board. It would be better to buy the next step up size wise for the extra space(keep 15% free on a SSD).

Cache for the hard drive, I doubt that would even work, cache if for the main drive using Windows. You don't need a cache drive to access data or play games.

I totally agree with edogawa. Get a120gb ssd for all programs and OS. All movies and all other files on hdd.

However you need to learn how to use a ssd. There are some functions you need to disable that'll save you 20gb on the ssd. Also make sure to install OS on ssd without the hdd plugged in.
