Your previous settings would most likely have been overwritten, however I'm sure if you looked into saved restore points it would have made a restore point before reverting/rolling back to an older stored restore point. The only problem is if you were to restore that point you would most liekly suffer from the same error that caused you to roll back to a previous restore point.

What original settings are you trying to restore because you will most likely have to go through and manually set these up again and I am more than happy to assist if you like.

Windows XP has a bad habit of deleting the previous restore points at a duration of 45days.
So if you donot have the old restore point, there is no cure.

However to run a sytem restore, turn your PC on using Safe Mode and primarily if you think the error is caused by a software, you can delete it from the Programs and Features (Uninstall a program) from Control Panel.
If this doesnot work,

Run a System Restore or a Drive Format and reinstall with a newer operating system. :)

This would fix anything that may be persistant within your system but will not restore your settings, therefore you should consider this as a last resort if your system is still suffering from said error. However if the problem is already fixed and you just want previous theme styled settings re applied please state so
