Hi,

I am looking for a cheap graphics card (around $50 or so) to meet the mininum settings to run the Unreal Development Kit (www.udk.com).

I have a very old Asus S-spresso (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) with the following specs:

Windows XP SP3
2.66GHz Pentium 4 CPU
ATI Radeon X800 (not SM3 compatible)
1 GB of RAM
M-Audio Revolution 5.1 for sound

Can anyone suggest anything?

P.S. I suspect I will need some more RAM as well. Any suggestions there would also be appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

So the only option you have with graphics would be an AGP card (and with a 220w power supply the option is even more limited)?
This AGP 4350 should be a good choice (given your needs) but is a bit expensive for a lower power card

There is also a passively cooled geforce 210 PCI

(take a look at the feedback as some people experience similar problems with drivers etc.)

Thanks for your suggestions. I also found this card on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-S-Video-Graphics-512...) at $42.99, with a $10 rebate for a total of $32.99. I'm curious to know what you think of it?

Also, I was thinking of buying some more RAM. There are two slots in my Asus so I was thinking of getting two sticks at 1 GB each. Could you maybe point me in the direction of some cheap RAM sticks?

Thanks again.

I don't think I have seen any DDR ram which is cheap but newegg seems to have some (sigh older ram is expensive stuff)
One of my friends recommends G.Skill ram for any occasion (DDR 400)

Though you asked for cheap ish ram, this is a bit slower DDR 333 stuff

Good luck :)

And the geforce 6200 does have shader model 3.0, but is significantly weaker than the other two, you definitely would be better off with a 4350 card (which can even run bf3 at min res and specs lol) if you can find one for cheaper than newegg, the 6200 is an entry level card from 2004 or so and personally I wouldn't really trust it with UDK, there have been some people who have problems with UDK and have that card

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I'm going to do a little more research based on what you recommended, and probably order the stuff later this week.

Thanks again!
