Hello I just installed my new 9370. I got it for 289 and sold my brother my 8350 with the water cooler that came with the 9370 for 200 bucks. Now I had my 8350 clocked to 4.7 stable with prime95. my temps for that was 68-71. My question is with the 9370 what is the max temps I want for the 9370 running prime95. I am using the program to read my cpu temps.
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor-pro/versions-history.html

Rite now at idle I am getting 34c
I am using the h100 cooler.

I would like to get my 9370 clocked to 5. That's what I am aiming for. The other question is how long do I have to wait till I start overclocking? Do I have to work it in? The voltage is set to auto and its at 1.488 with clock speed of 4.4 and turbo of 1.5 makes it go between 1.448 and 1.5

I will mostly be playing battlefield 4.
Also I got new ram corsair pro 9-9-24.

Oh and is there a break in period before I can start overclocking the cpu?

Oh rite now the cpu temps has 3 readings
Value temp is 30c Min temp is 30c and max temp is 37c
What one do I watch while overclocking?
I was using fan speed before

Solution

Hi,

Try and keep your core temps below 62C under load, that's what is generally considered safe for 24/7 use.

You can start overclocking straight away, there is no break in period for a CPU, though your thermal paste may do. (depends what thermal paste it is).

Keep an eye on the max temp readings.

I just Found out my brother used his fingers to apply the thermal, Should I take it back a part clean it both the cpu and the h100 heat sick off and re apply?

My brother has the 9590 and his idle temps is 26c
He did not use the as5 he just used what came with the h60

So like you say I might need a break in period or I need to re do it,

My max temp is now 30 at idle. His is 26c at idle

If your temps are fine then I would just leave it as it is. Some people do use their finger to spread out the thermal paste, although it's recommended to wrap your finger in a plastic pag or similar as your finger has dirt/grime/oils ETC...

The break in period (If I remember it correctly) just involves using the computer for a certain number of hours and the temps will gradually improve (although not by much).

Here's the AC5 page I mentioned earlier, looks like you may see slightly better results after 50 - 200 hours use.

I got a question everytime I click restart on my temp program the max temp changes, or does it only check every so often? It changes on it own but when I click restart I get a different temp reading some times

Also do I have to do anything under the settings or just run each test
Blend test small ftfs or what ever.
I seen under the window section of prime you can select prime95 or thread. Its already set to thread

Yeah they catch me out sometimes too, very annoying! :fou:

9370 clocked to 4.7 with voltage 1.45
Max temp is 67 load.

Now I read that the 8350 throttles after 70c
I know you said 62c is the 24/7 safe temp but I want at least 4.7 for my 24 hour use and I would really like 5

4.7Ghz is pretty good, congrats :)

Upto you whether you choose to push it further.
