External USB 3.0 HDD is not detected in Windows after boot! Help!

My Seagate GoFlex 3TB HDD (external USB 3.0 HDD)does not show up when I boot to my Desktop (Win7 64-bit). If you unplug the drive from the USB 3.0 port and plug it back in then the OS recognizes HDD. Everything works just fine. Any idea why this is happening? The HDD drive works just fine in my laptop, but i am getting this strange issue in my newly built pc. It's annoying that I have to unplug the cable and plug it back in for the OS to see the drive. Any solution or what may be causing this problem?

Update: I took a loot at Device Manager in Control Panel. It appears the "USB Mass Storage Device" item has a "!" icon next to it. So I took out the external drives power cable and plug it back in, the drive turns on just as usual and that "!" disappears.

Also, if its plugged into USB 2 ports, it boots with windows just fine. If only it is plugged onto USB 3 ports, and if you boot windows, then drive's LED do not light up and is not there in the drive list when you open My Computer. In the Device Manager, you see that "!" yellow icon next to USB Mass Storage Device. If you unplug the cable and plug it back in then the drive's LED lits up and is detected in Windows. :S

Have you install driver for usb 3.0?

Hi..
I have the same exact problem as the previous user, but I do have the USB 3.0 drivers installed. Whenever I boot while the drive is connected to a USB 3.0 port, the drive will not turn on, but if I unplug and replug then it will. I have been searching for an answer as to why the drive is only recoginzed if plugged into a USB 2.0.

I have a similar problem. I think I found the reason but still not a solution. Apparently USB 3.0 ports that are used while also using USB 2.0 wireless devices sometimes conflict. It happens to me about half the time after a reboot. In my situation the wireless Logitech mouse freezes for about a minute and my USB 3.0 WD external hard drive does not connect. In order to get the external drive connected I remove and reconnect the power cable to it. After that everything works fine. In my search for a solution I found out that there are quite a few people with this issue and most are using USB 3.0 devices and USB 2.0 wireless devices. Some seem to fix the problem with bios updates and others using a extension cable for the wireless receiver. None worked for me.

I have an external usb 3.0 sd card reader plugged into the bios directly. When i start the computer its blue led is on but after i exit the bios it turns off. This might be a bios setting i will check again to see exactly when the light goes off.

Update: It flickers during windows 7 startup and towards the end it dies out. This is not a bios problem. Windows 7 does not support usb 3.0 on its own as i have read and driver must be downloaded manually.
