BF4 unplayable lag

I just finished building my new computer... I spent a bit of money on it as well, I cant play BF4 Beta due to FPS spikes.. I will go from 100+ to single digits... WTF?!?! I know as a Beta its going to be somewhat problematic but this is over the top... I know my GPU and CPU are not throttling as they are keeping cool... Anyone have any ideas or having same issues? Thanks

  1. what is your video card? if you have a nvidia card, you need to download the latest whql drivers from geforce.com for your card to properly perform in the beta. if thats not the issue, keep in mind that it is an unoptimized beta. and remember, LAG and fps are two different things, they seem like the same thing while playing a game, but they are caused by two different things.

EVGA GTX 770 Classified, you mean the Beta driver? I downloaded the lasted non beta one..

no, not the beta driver. thats why i said WHQL, the most recent WHQL driver has an update for the BF4 beta. i think your experiencing server lag, there has been alot of server trouble and lag due to a bug with punkbuster lately, not fps drop. the only way to know is to get an fps renderer and watch your frames in game. download EVGA PRECISION X, its a software, and in the setting you can set it up to show your fps while in games.

    This one?

Version: 327.23 WHQL Release Date: 2013.09.19

its the version I have installed, and also the latest WHQL driver out as far as I can see.

And I am watching my FPS with fraps and that how I know I was dropping to single digits, for example:

    2013-10-13 00:47:22 - bf4
    Frames: 80799 - Time: 1341235ms - Avg: 60.242 - Min: 8 - Max: 132
  5. thats the right driver, so that isnt the issue. BUT i would uninstall and reinstall the drivers with a "clean install". do you currently have this issue in any other game? if not, it is likely just a bug in the beta. there are many right now, the battlelog is filled with bug reporting forums right now. but its just a beta, not even a polished demo.

I only have bf3 and 4 Installed now as I just finished building the computer friday night and for some reason bf3 that was working fine errors and fails to initialize now... I havent been able to log in to bf4 until I manually updated punkbuster, soo I dont know if thats bf3 issue now... thanks for your input I have a feeling its more of a server issue then anything on my end.
  7. id say it probably is. and it could be, punkbuster has been causing server issues lately for battlefield. good luck with the actual release of the game, although i feel like that will go much smoother for you.
