Hello everyone!

So, I am currently planning to build a new gaming PC. I have right now a 2 year old one that still works great, but since a family member is without a PC at all at the moment I thought I would donate my current machine to him (what a generous soul I know :p) and create for myself the perfect excuse to get a new one :)

I am not a super expert and I am not super updated on the new hardware, hence my making this post in the hope that someone gives my hand.

Lets get to it:

Intel I7 4770k
Asus Sabertooth z87
Corsair Hydro H110
SSD 250 or so --------> any good recommendations? crucial ssd, samsung ssd, corsair sad.. ?
WD Caviar Black 1TB
Asus Xonar Essence STX
Corsair PSU---- hx850 Gold or ax860 platinum?
RAM------> no clue! 0_o wanna go for 16gb, but I'd love some suggestions here.
Case---> i friend of mine got himself a corsair obsidian 650d i believe and it looks cool, but I really wouldn't know. I'd like a mid case though.

and then to the most awful part for the wallet: GPUs. From my understanding new AMD cards are coming really really soon, hence it would be smart to wait and see how they do, or maybe just hope they force the nvidia prices down a little. In general I'd like to go with nvidia and I was thinking about 1 or 2 evga superclocked gtx 780s. ACX cooler. maybe the r9 290x? ..!

last thing, I would also like to make the jump to a 120hz monitor. i was looking at the BenQ XL2420T but really I don't know.

all right! I'll look forward to any answers and thanks :)

PS: I don't have a budget. Meaning, I'll pay what I have to. That doesn't mean that I like to throw cash out of the window obviously.

First off :ouch: you accualy wrote everything (thanks!)

Will this be purely for gaming? If so then you can cut off $100 by getting a 4670k instead because the 4770k barely adds anything for gaming only in video editing and stuff like that.
For the ssd i would say go with a samsung evo 250gb great ssd looks good and is fast. If you are going dual 780's you would want some head room for later upgrades/ocing so maybe something like a nice 1000w psu would have maybe 200w head room which is good.

As for the ram you can get 16gb if you want but not really need something like this would be nice : http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Desktop-Memory-CML16GX3M2A1600C10/dp/B007TG8QRW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1381661643&sr=8-4&keywords=16gb+ram
as for the case the 650d isnt really good at cooling since you are gonna have 2 gpu's what do you think of the Corsair Air 540? Great case for SLI cooling so possibly get that.
I would say to get 2 gtx780's If you need help with anything else just ask me! :)

Thank you Diazalon for your help :D

now I'll take you up on your offer and ask you a couple of things!

- about the ram: what's your take on the 2400MHz vs 1600 MHz matter? would something like this http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-2400MHz-PC3-19200-KHX24C11T3K2-16X/dp/B00A771ZJG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381683204&sr=8-1&keywords=2400+ram be worth the extra dollars or not really?

-the case: I looked up the Air 540 and lol I don't know if I love it or hate it! It's a bit bulky though and I would have to rearrange my puzzle like current set up, doable but not preferable. Do you deem it worth it, or could you recommend something not this large? :ouch:

Take some noctua airflow fans , use the fans included for push/pull in h110 , if u want liquid cooling i would recommend full liquid cooling system including ur gtx 780 , also if u want to watercool go for a 900d

Well, he chose the EXTREME and I chose the Hero.

Just went with it because it supports faster memory and doesn't have that weird plastic shield on it. Don't know if it has any pros or cons but the Hero is $40 cheaper too.
