My power supply (Corsair GS 700) just went *BANG and emitted flames and smoke! There was a voltage fluctuation apparently. The unit was 2 weeks old, rest of the rig is 3 years old, Gfx card is 6 months old.

Keep in mind, the PC was powered OFF at the time. No idea what caused it. My queries are:

1. Is it claimable via warranty? What is the RMA process? I have never RMA'd a product before. How long will it take and any idea of the cost, if any?

2. Are my other components damaged? I know there is no way to know for sure, but nothing else seems burnt and the PC wasnt on when this happened.

Specs:

Case: CM 690 II Advnaced, 4 cooling fans.
PSU: Corsair GS 700
Mobo: Asus P7P55D
CPU: Core i5 760 @ 3.6 GHz
RAM Corsair Vengace 4 GB
GFX card: MSI GTX 580 lightning Xtreme edition 3GB OC
1 500GB hard drive

Appreciate all replies. Hope that it can reliably be fixed. I just got it 2 weeks back after my 6 year old HX 620 died , and everything was working fine prior.

You need to get a warranty through Corsair. You won't know if your other components are damaged until you put in a new PSU, unfortunately, but I had a PSU die on me once and everything was fine.
