I'm looking for a reliable internal hard drive for my PC for $100 or less. I don't know much when it comes to hard drives.
Is WD better than Seagate or not?

More about : 1tb internal hard drive

I have a much better track record of WD than Seagate. Only one WD failure in all my years of using it compared to half a dozen in Seagate. WD Black or WD Blue are the top choices. WD Blue is cheaper but WD Black has longer warranty (5 years vs 3 years).

4x Barracuda
1x GoFlex
1x FreeAgent

Not all internals, but they count.

Little offtopic here, but u answered one of my threads a few hours ago.
There u suggested a 3x1TB HDD setup more than a 1x3TB one. That 3TB is a Barracuda.
So u much more with a WD right ? I've checked the prices in my country,a 2TB WD Black is not so far from a 3TB Barracuda's price.
Put it in a nut shell, u think better to go with 2TB(or 2x1TB) WD than a Seagate 3TB ?

What about WD Green? Is it any good?

The point I was trying to make is versatility and portability. A large 3TB HDD takes a long time to format. So partitioning will take a long time. Hence why it's not very portable. And it's one drive so if it fails, you lose everything. You just have more flexibility and redundancy with three drives.

Yes; WD Green is good. I'll put that behind Black, Blue, and Red in that order. But they make terrible NAS or RAID drives due to their economic setup of going to sleep.

No the Green drives are not made to be used as the main drive.

WD Green hard drives are tested and recommended for use in PCs as secondary storage, external enclosures and other applications that require cool and quiet operation.

Yeah, that's what I need it for. I'm gonna use it as a secondary drive just for storage, 'cause I'm running out of space on my main drive.

True. I've never bough an internal hard drive in my life (enough with my computer one). If you understand some check this spanish comparison. I'd say the best one or at least the ones I like the most are the WD hard drives, pretty cheap and quality price also very good.
