Hello

First off, I'm a total newbie when it comes to FreeNAS so here is my problem.

I have 3 IDE Hard drives 2 of them are WD Caviar 40GB and one is a old Maxtor 40GB. Everything is setup fine except it can't find the other WD drive. It boots of the Maxtor drive fine into FreeNAS 9.1.1 then I take a look at the drives on the Internet GUI and only picks up one of the two WD Drives. I have the Maxtor drive(This has FreeNAS on it) connected with it's own cable and nothing else linked and the other IDE cable is connected to both WD drives and only one is being picked up. So I need help with why it isn't picking up the other WD drive.

Thanks

Spec's

Intel Celeron 1.3GHz
512MB Ram
ASUS TUSL-L

Have you checked the jumpers on the back of the two drives which share a data cable?
One must be jumpered as "Master" (on the end of the data cable) and the other one must be jumpered as "Slave". If they are both jumpered the same, the system will ignore one of them.

Additionally, If you've got both of them jumpered for "cable select", that doesn't always work, and won't work anyway unless the data cable is the 80-wire type, even then not guaranteed to work. Its best to jumper them as "Master" & "Slave" and place them on the corresponding connector on the ribbon data cable.
