Internet not working but the connection is fine

Hi, a few day ago i bought a wifi modem router netgear n150 and i'm havinh problem with the internet. Before i bought this modem i had the one that my isp gave me and everything worked well. When this problem started the connection would last a little more than an hour. now it lasts 10 minutes. The problem: the browser will behave like there is no internet, but according to windows 8 and the light on the modem the connection is fine. Since when i changed the upnp advertisement period to 1440 minutes the connection started to last less time. To fix the problem i simply disconnect and reconnect again. If i use the diagnose, it will reset the wifi adapter and give me the error "the default gateway is not available". I really hate this. What could it be?

It's wired the exact same way. I'm connected using wifi. Some minute ago i was diagnosing to see if maybe it was the wifi adapter's fault, using a macbook but the problem happend on both computers. But as soos as it dropped the dsl light started blinking. So i connected my isp's modem to see what happens.

You may have to talk yo your ISP to get the modem/router "provisioned" on their network for it to work properly.

mmmh i read something about that and i called and they said it was the modem's fault, he didn't knwo what i was talking about. Tomorrow i'll go replace it. hopefully it's a malfunction

You will still need to tell your ISP of the new modem. That MAC address needs to be in their system.
