Hello guys. I can buy the Kingston HyperX Performance KHX24C11T2K2/8X sticks for pretty cheap at this moment ($85), which is the lowest price for higher quality sticks at my area. However, as my motherboard only supports 1866MHz max (Asus M5A97 R2.0), will I be able to run these sticks at 1866MHz prefarably or even at all?

Thanks for help.

Your motherboard will downgrade the RAM, as it doesn't support DDR3 2400.

I'm aware of that, however I'd still like to know if it can handle the 1866MHz (or at least 1600MHz) or if there's any side effect that would make it run worse than an 1866MHz RAM.

What CPU, that will determine more what can be run, Many FX CPUs can run 1866 others can't....the sticks themselves should run 1866 comfortably at least at 9-9-9-27, 1.55 2N or better

I'm planning on using an FX-6350, if that makes any difference.

Think 1866 will work at those timings, any problems give me a holler

Sure, but it's gonna take a while. I'm ordering the CPU and the RAM tomorrow, but they'll be sitting in dark for a couple weeks until I buy the mobo as well.
